How to attach and use a golf towel
AI illustrationA golf towel is the cheapest piece of kit in the bag and one of the most used. Hanging it in the right place and using it the right way keeps your clubs, ball and hands in better shape all round.
Attaching it to your bag#
Most golf towels have a grommet with a hook or ring. Clip it to the towel ring or a D-ring on the side of your bag, usually on the side where you pull clubs out, so it is in reach without searching.
If you ride in a cart, some golfers prefer to tuck the towel over the cart's bag strap or the cart frame so it doesn't swing.
Keep one end wet and one end dry#
A common habit is to dampen one end of the towel for cleaning grooves and the ball, and keep the other end dry for your hands and grips. Some golfers carry two towels for the same reason.
What to wipe and when#
Wipe the clubface after each shot from the fairway or rough, and clean the ball when the rules allow, such as on the green. Dry your grips and hands before each swing on damp days.
Washing a golf towel#
Follow the care label. For the Ninth & Pine Golf Towel that means machine wash cold, tumble dry low and no fabric softener. Wash it regularly; a towel caked in sand and grass doesn't clean anything well.
