What to wear to watch a golf tournament
Illustrative imageWatching a tournament means hours on your feet, often on uneven ground, in whatever the day brings. Dress like a golfer who has a long walk ahead.
Shoes first#
Wear shoes you can walk miles in on grass and gravel paths. Spikeless golf shoes or comfortable trainers both work; leave anything new or stiff at home.
Layers and headwear#
Mornings at a tournament can be much cooler than afternoons. A polo with a half-zip you can tie around your waist or carry covers most days. A cap matters on bright days, when you will spend hours looking up at the ball against the sky.
Check the event's rules#
Most tournaments publish a bag policy and a list of prohibited items, and some limit bag sizes or ban them entirely. Check the event's website before you go. Golf attire isn't required for spectators, but a collared shirt never looks out of place.
