What to wear to a company golf outing
AI illustrationA company golf day is part round, part networking event. You want to look comfortable and put-together in front of colleagues and clients, whatever your handicap.
The safe outfit#
A solid polo, golf pants or tailored shorts, a belt, golf shoes or clean sneakers, and a cap. Neutral colors are hard to get wrong around clients.
Read the invitation#
Outings at private clubs follow the club's dress code, which may mean collared shirts tucked in and no denim. If the invitation doesn't say, ask the organizer or check the course website.
Team shirts and giveaways#
Many outings hand out shirts or caps at registration. Bring your own polo anyway in case your size runs out. If you are the organizer, see our guide to planning team golf shirts and start collecting sizes early.
A layer for the shotgun start#
Scrambles often begin with a morning shotgun start, when it can be cool. A half-zip over your polo covers the first few holes and still looks neat in the group photo.
The dinner or awards after#
Most post-round events are fine in what you played in. Bring a fresh polo or a crewneck if you want to change, and leave the hoodie in the car if the event is in the clubhouse.
