How to care for embroidered golf clothes
Illustrative imageEmbroidery is stitched thread, so it lasts well, but the fabric around it needs the same care as any good garment. Always follow the care label first; these habits cover the rest.
Washing#
Turn the garment inside out so the embroidery doesn't rub against other clothes. Wash on a cool, gentle cycle with similar colors, and skip bleach, which can discolor both fabric and thread.
Drying#
Air drying is kindest. If you use a dryer, choose low heat and take the piece out while it is still slightly damp. High heat is the most common cause of shrinking and puckering around a logo.
Ironing#
Iron on the reverse side or put a cloth between the iron and the embroidery. Never iron directly on the stitching.
Caps and toques#
Spot clean structured caps with a damp cloth and a little mild soap rather than putting them in the washer, which can bend the brim and crown. Let them air dry on something round so they keep their shape. Knit toques can usually be hand washed and dried flat; check the label.
