How to choose a golf half-zip
Illustrative imageA half-zip is the layer you will wear most from fall to spring. A few details decide whether it earns that place in the bag.
Weight#
Look for the fabric weight on the product page. Around 10 oz/yd² is a heavyweight fleece with real substance for cold mornings; lighter knits suit milder days and layering under a jacket.
The zip and collar#
A metal zip runs smoothly and lasts. The collar should stand up neatly when zipped and fold down cleanly over a polo collar when open.
Fit over a polo#
A golf half-zip is worn over a collar, so it needs room in the chest and shoulders without looking boxy. Ribbed cuffs and a ribbed waistband keep the sleeves and hem in place through the swing.
Inside#
A brushed fleece interior feels soft against a polo and holds warmth. Combed, ring-spun cotton in the blend gives a smoother face than standard cotton.
