Can you wear a crewneck sweatshirt golfing?
Illustrative imageA plain crewneck sweatshirt is one of the most comfortable things to golf in on a cool day. The question is usually the dress code, and the answer is usually the collar underneath.
Wear a polo underneath#
Many courses ask for a collared shirt. A crewneck over a polo, with the collar out, meets that rule at most clubs and looks sharp. It is also the easiest layer to take off once the sun comes out, leaving you in a proper golf shirt.
Fit for the swing#
A side-seamed crew keeps its shape and does not twist around your body. Look for enough room across the back to turn fully, and a hem that sits at the belt so it does not ride up at the top of the backswing.
Heavier fleece looks smarter and drapes better than a thin sweatshirt.
Keep it plain#
Solid colors and a small logo look at home at a golf club; big graphics look like gym wear. Navy, black, white, forest green and deep reds all pair easily with golf trousers.
